I love new ideas from customers I would have never thought of. This project was just one of those. A mother from my bible study class asked me for an armadillo for her daughter. She sent me a pattern she had found on Ravelry, but to be honest I couldn't figure out what the little fringe was. Instead I did my own search for pictures and found this pattern on Ravelry by Kati Galusz. You should have seen the look on this little girl's face when she got to hold it for the first time! She was so excited! I love how adorable this pattern turned out to be and love the fact that you can roll it up. CHANGES
I did make some changes to the pattern from Kati. The armadillo was twice as big as the pattern is made for, the easy way to do this with a pattern is to simply double everything, from the amount of stitches to the number of rows. On the body of the armadillo I worked it in single crochet instead of the half double crochet. I didn't make any changes to the shell except to increase it's size to fit the body. I had to add a few stitches to the width and increase the length. All in all I have to say this is a great pattern and beginners can enjoy this little rolling cutie. So if you'd like to try making it please check out Kati's page on Ravelry! |
