Saturday, January 28th is the Chinese New Year! I love the Asian culture and enjoy many of the holidays they have. This year is the year of the Rooster. If you've been following my Facebook posts you've seen the photos of my newest creation Ping the Rooster.
So which animal of the zodiac are you and how well does it describe your traits? I hope you get the chance to enjoy the holiday!
I often travel with my work and prefer to carry my yarn in cakes than in skein form. I can be more organized, carry more colors, and since I prefer to pull from the outside it works better to sit in my bag or on the chair beside me. The downside is I don't bring my ball winder with me and when I purchase new yarn I want to wind it to work with it. Then I had a eureka moment... Every skein is wrapped with a label. Why couldn't I wind the yarn around this? So I gave it a whirl. So there is one whole skein 'caked' on the label and I have to admit that even my ball wonder doesn't do it this compact or tight. Might be something I do more often to take a break from crocheting. 🙂 Once it got to this point I took it off the tube and finished winding. There is always doing it on your thumb instead as well, but I thought this was so cool I had to share it.
We decorated the day after Thanksgiving as a family and while the girls were in nap time I snuck off to my office to make this Bethlehem Star for the top of our tree.
