I often travel with my work and prefer to carry my yarn in cakes than in skein form. I can be more organized, carry more colors, and since I prefer to pull from the outside it works better to sit in my bag or on the chair beside me. The downside is I don't bring my ball winder with me and when I purchase new yarn I want to wind it to work with it. Then I had a eureka moment... Every skein is wrapped with a label. Why couldn't I wind the yarn around this? So I gave it a whirl. So there is one whole skein 'caked' on the label and I have to admit that even my ball wonder doesn't do it this compact or tight. Might be something I do more often to take a break from crocheting. 🙂 Once it got to this point I took it off the tube and finished winding. There is always doing it on your thumb instead as well, but I thought this was so cool I had to share it.
I have to say infinity scarves are a newly discovered favorite project.
When I first started working with yarn I didn't want to make the typical striped or single color scarf we all first learn. And let's not forget the endless variety of patterns! (Who could ever forget that? 😉) Now that we are midway through September it's not too long before we will have to break these out! |
