Autumn is just around the corner with cooler temperatures and breezy afternoons, or at least I hope that's coming soon. After living in the Southwest for 5 years now I agree with everyone else here... there is only two seasons for the most part. Hot and not. Right now is still roasting hot most days so I'm looking forward to those cool and comfortable temperatures.
Thoughts of Fall bring along colors of orange, red, brown and other fallen leaf colors. All of the fun Harvest parties can bring with the costumes and yummy candy are the things kids look forward to the most. Why not surprise the little one in your life with a cute new toy in the shape of their favorite candy or creature?
One of my favorite Harvest items I've made is the little bat. Great as a gift for a child or as a part of your party decorations. Don't expect him to scare too many people with such a cute face, he just wants to hang around and watch.
All of these items are for sale here on the site or you can order a custom item of your own, including the first pattern for some simple and stylish containers. Check out the order pages or contact the studio today!
What are some of your favorite things from the Autumn season?
For my holiday plans this year I wanted to make a set of crochet Jesse Tree ornaments for Advent this year. Last Christmas I made just one of the twenty-five ornaments in an exchange I did with some of the other ladies at church. It was just a neat tradition to do with my daughter, who was one at the time, to each day hang up a new ornament and count them with her.
I was so disappointed when I searched for crochet reference pictures to not find any! I thought someone else would have thought of this too, so I might be blazing a new path. I'm definately going to make individual patterns and a complete set of them to put up once I complete my first set.
If you've never celebrated Advent before I highly recommend it. I didn't know anything about it from my childhood tradtions, but its such a great way to count down the days to Christmas and teach the Bible to kids all at the same time. I turn into something of a kid myself during Christmas-time so I think I might have enjoyed it more than my daughter.
Here's a list of the ornaments you make for a complete set. A great book for teaching about Advent is "The Advent Jesse Tree" it can be found online, Amazon & eBay both have good prices.
I've been crafting since early 2010 and have become "hooked" on crochet ever since. My inspiration often comes from my family and anything adorable.
